Scolopendra is in use in the Korean medicine. The Korean medical doctors use Scolopendra for relieving convulsion and spasm(ãØù¦òÌâ), clearing and activating the channels and collaterals (÷×ÌèüÀÕ©), etc. We investigated toxicity, poisoning symptoms, side effects, poisoning treatment and prevention against poisoning of Scolopendra. The results were summarized as follows£º 1. The main ingredients of poisoning are histamine, hemolytic protein, etc. The ingredients of poisoning from Scolopendra mainly can cause stimulating symptoms on digestive system, cardiovascular system, circulatory system, urinary system, nervous system, blood-forming system, etc and can cause hypersensitive reaction. 2. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in the western medicine are washing out the stomach, causing diarrhea, supplies of grape sugar, and symptomatic treatment, etc. 3. The representative methods of poisoning treatment in the Korean medicine take advantage of herbs, such as Glycyrrhizae Radix(Êöõ®), Lonicerae Flos(ÑÑëÞü£), Strychni Semen(Ø©ï±í), Lumbricus(?ìâ), etc. And Korean medical doctors should meet symptoms as patients call for attention. 4.
